iPhone - Look, Don’t Buy It. OK?

OK, so it was almost inevitable that I’d post about the iPhone eventually. I really dig mobile phones. There is all sorts of interesting things you can do with them — for example taking a photo and uploading it to Flickr. So of course I’m really interested in it. I wouldn’t buy one sight unseen or without scrutinising any associated contracts, but I’m keen as mustard to have a play with one.

Following the news over the last week I’ve noticed the awful amounts of scorn and whinging generated by it’s announcement on Tuesday — well Wednesday night here is Australia.

Get a grip man. It’s just a phone. You don’t need one. No one is saying you have to buy one. No one is saying you have to buy it if you feel it’s too expensive. You don’t have to get it if it doesn’t have the features you want. If your existing phone already does what you need, shut up about it and just keep using that. It’s not a disaster if it’s unattractive to business. It’s just a phone.

That’s not to say these gripes aren’t legitimate, but I’m a bit perplexed as to why people take this personally and want to start flame-wars over it.

Everyone on the interwebnets take a deep breath… now relaaaaaaaaax.
